A word from Paul, the 'Patsy from Monty Python and the Holy Grail' costume creator:

This is me wearing my own costume for 2014. I always like to spend time crafting and creating, so I try to plan my Halloween costumes as far in advance as possible. I was watching Monty Python and the Holy Grail one night, and I realized that Patsy would be a fun costume to make that not many people have seen before.

The pack was the most time-consuming thing to make because it required frequent trips to local thrift shops to find the exact pieces I was looking for, with the exception of the plastic horn and crown which were purchased online. The pack frame is a baby-backpack carrier that I stripped down and spray painted. The straps were covered in fabric, and I then hand-sawed sticks and attached them to the frame with rope lashings to make it appear the whole thing were made of wood. I cut the panels off a wicker clothing hamper and put on the pack to give it some fullness and dimension without adding a ton of weight. Several blankets, used belts, faux fur, a jewelry chest, the killer rabbit, holy grail cup, stool, and misc. pans and wooden cutlery were all found at second hand stores and added on week by week with twine as I found what I was searching for. The flag is attached via a pivoting door stop so that I can fold it down to fit through doorways.

The head coif and robe were sewed by me as well. The head piece especially took many trial and error attempts since I had never sewn something to fit a round object before. The belt and pouch are just from the women's section of the thrift store, and it fits the coconut halves very nicely.

All together I spent around $150 for the various parts and pieces.
